During the break you can stay and relax in the studio or go for a walk/ lunch to nearby down town Los Altos.
"The Universal Sound AUM - The Music Of The Spheres " - Jan 31, 2009, 1:30pm-4:00pm at Yoga of Los Alto
The closest we can get to the universal spirit is through sound, sound forms and vibrations. The three sounds of “AUM” are the seed (bija) of all words. In this workshop we’ll approach our Asana/Pranayama sadhana and meditation by using sound forms such as aum as well as being silent in the poses. As we learn to silence and pacify the brain, the inner ears soften and the gateways to listen to the innermost being are wide open. We will explore the multifaceted meanings of this ever lasting spirit/ sound AUM and Sutra I.28 as this sutra conveys the devotional aspect of the seed mantra AUM. All levels are welcome. Please come and enjoy this marvelous exploration.
"Body – Mind - Breath, the trinity of the Self "
Aug 30, 2008, 1:30-4:00pm at Yoga of Los Altos
In this workshop Birgit wants to share her inspirations from and learning experiences with the Iyengar family in Pune. Their teaching-skills integrate the multifaceted spectrum of the art, science and philosophy of Yoga, individually expressed in a super compact and intense form.
They are Master teachers as for B.K.S. Iyengar ‘Yogi’ would be the proper expression.
Body, mind and breath awareness is essential for our practice. They teach each other in variant degrees and measurements as we get prepared for the exploration of the qualities of our self
Devotion, humbleness and down-to-earth clarity are the pre-requisites to our Yoga practice. “We all scratch the knowledge of Yoga only at the tip of the iceberg”, as
Prashantji Iyengar more than once pointed out. The practice of Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation and Savasana will be considered under the process of body, mind and breath sensitivity culturing and awareness in addition to the immeasurable and impeccable knowledge of the Sutras of Patanjali.
"The Lightness in Yoga" - March 8, 2008, 5-8pm at Yoga of Los Altos
How lightness, alignment, balance and precision infuse mutually will be the emphasis on this workshop. We will work on our asana practice, Sadhana, and the fine-tuning of the breath as to be explored through pranayama. The integration of this fine-tuned breath and prana, in combination with our Asana practice, will unfold into lightness and ease.
"Engross yourself in your Sadhana" - November, 2007 at Yoga of Los Altos
To be fully engaged and engrossed is of utmost importance in our practice. It requires dedication, willpower, commitment, a yearning to learn, humbleness, devotion and faith in the PROGRESS. To experience and to be fully engrossed, we need to SLOW down so that attentive awareness is refined; slowing down offers to experience the changing degrees of concentration, withdrawal of the senses, the power of the breath and the alignment and balance of the body.
"The Five Kosas" - June, 2007 at Yoga of Los Altos
In this workshop you will learn about the 5 Kosas, the sheaths of our existence, through refinements, attentiveness and awareness/wakefulness in your Sadhana.
The emphasis will be on a slowly guided practice to present the opportunity to feel, explore and reflect, in a quiet state of being, the multifaceted layers of the body, mind and breath.
"Refinements on your SADHANA (practice)" - February, 2007 at Yoga of Los Altos
Every day we begin our practice with devotion, humbleness and an open mind; we maintain our beginner mind. Awareness unfolds through our mind and skillful practice.
Sadhana is an interdependent, three folded practice:
I. BAHIRANGA: External Quest
II. ANTARANGA: Internal Quest
III. ANTARATMA: Innermost Quest
It is essential to BE in the present, moment by moment, breath by breath; only then the practice, Sadhana, unfolds to be an evolutionary journey.
